Circle U.’lympics - Share your work !

On the occasion of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, King’s College of London, Aarhus University and Université Paris Cité are hosting the Circle U.'lympics - a warm up for Paris 2024 - a series of 4 hybrid talks (online and in person) with the aim of offering an interdisciplinary, 360 degree view of the Olympic Games and sharing research within Circle U.

From exploring the origins of the Games, to understanding the ecological impact of hosting an international competition; from the legacy of previous Games and the societal impact on host communities, to school and community sports; from examining scientific research into physical performance, to exploring the stadium as a religious experience; from sports marketing and the funding of international events, to performance psychology and the athlete's mindset; and from ideas of national identity in sport, to the ethics and ethos of the Olympics, we hope the talks will cover a wide range of topics and we welcome speakers from any subject area or discipline.

Each speaker will have between 45 and 18 minutes to present / discuss their work or personal experience (we are open to other formats - see below). The talks will be hosted online, between January and April 2024, and be open to all staff and students in Circle U.

We welcome submissions from across disciplines and across all Circle U. partner universities and hope this will be an opportunity to make contacts and build relationships between colleagues at the partner institutions.

If you would like to share an area of your research related to sport/the Olympic Games in an accessible way, please complete the following questionnaire.
